Hyatt Concept I - Los Angeles

Los Angeles, CA

Concept, 2004

Reimagining Los Angeles’s Continental Hyatt House — a Sunset Strip home away from home for many oft-misbehaving rock legends — this scheme seeks to recapture some of the property’s bad-boy rock-and-roll heritage, letting it live up to its reputation as “the Riot House.” The design takes as its inspiration a film-noir reinterpretation of the property’s 1960s modernist vibe, with a new façade, new public spaces and a new rooftop terrace and swimming pool offering long views of the L.A. basin to the west and the Hollywood Hills to the east. Before beginning this renovation, Hyatt decided to turn the hotel into the first American outpost of its new Andaz brand, and a new iconic concept was developed for that debut.
